Title:

Corporate Leadership Evaluation Session

Purpose:         

Assessing both internal and external candidates for suitability/ability, promotion to Partner level within the corporate.

Programme:   

Assessors (x circa 25, in attendance all week) and candidates (x circa 9 per 24hour session) to have their own separate planning and preparation room, boardroom or cabaret style, x 6 1:1 interview meeting/presentation rooms, private space nearby for buffet breakfast, refreshment break and buffet lunch set up and service (assessors and candidates to take catering back into respective function space).

Duration:         Two-week event

Location:         Houston, USA

We identified some priorities in addition to the brief above received from the client.

Catering:         

Varied and mixed options needed to be provided for all catering elements, breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks as (1) assessors were staying for the full programme duration, two weeks (2) candidates were travelling from global locations. 

We needed options and variety, healthy food to keep minds stimulated, not weighed down.

Timings:          

Given the intensity of the event and the work load, the venue needed to ensure overnight hold on all function space AND the ability to react and provide room service dinner catering to the function space if the assessors worked into the night.

Location:         

90% of the Assessors and Candidates would be flying into Houston so proximity to the airport was important.  Not an airport hotel, but one that could be reached easily especially as the candidate duration at the event was 24hour maximum.

Leisure:           

Pool, gym, points of interest nearby would be important as the assessors may not return home over the middle weekend.

Contract:         

Flexibility and understanding the nature of this event and that requirements could alter, potentially slightly, at the drop of a hat especially with regards to flights/travel arrangements.

The Solution

The venue solution (one of several suggested to the client, but the one that yelled, “hell yes” to us from the get go) was:

Doubletree Suites Houston

Candidates Room – Geneva

1:1 interview rooms – Lido, Capri, Venice I, Venice II, Cardiff, Windsor

Catering set up/service – Mezz and McKinley’s Bar and Grill

We also had the Mezz turned into a lounge area for quiet reflection. 

We took over the whole floor for this event which was a perfect fit and the client requested we re-book for the following three years events.
